Pardhan created fraud firms to sell cement without paying Tax

Right to information Act has revealed in so many cases in the state that how much the corruption is breeding at grass root level especially in NREGS works. In the latest incident RTI have exposed the corruption of the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Shala of Chachiot Blolck in District Mandi by submitting fraud bills of cement and sand by creating fake firms and swindled lakhs of rupees.

Bureau has queried to Block Development Officer, Chachiot, about the work done, total man days and the material used for the NREGS works in the said Panchyat. The information quite surprisingly reveled that sitting Vice President who was also the Ex-President of Panchayat Mr. Thakur Dass and Mr. Netar Singh has himself sold cement of Rs. 11 lac and 8 lac respectively for the different works in the panchayat in the name and style of M/s Thakur Trader Shala and Netar Singh and company. His Pradhan has embezzelled the funds by creating a firm in the name and style of M/s Thakur Trader Shala and Netar Singh and company. RTI records revealed that cement of more than Rs16 lakhs has been used in the panchayat works in one year
After availing the aforesaid information under RTI from BDO Gohar Mr. Murari Lal and RTI
Bureau Mandi again cross-examined the veracity of the information by filing another RTI application in the Office of Excise and Taxation Officer, Sunder Nagar. The information from Excise and Taxation ultimately exposed that both of these firms are not registered under the provisions of HPVAT Act 2005/ CST Act. It very clearly indicates that the said firms have not paid tax to the exchequer of the Government and thus have embezzled the public money.
When the whole matter came to the knowledge of Excise and Taxation Officer, Sunder
Nagar. Mr. Navinder then .He immediately rushed to the said village and raided the shops. When the Excise and Taxation Officer was contacted that he admitted that the shops have been raided have seized the record of the shops. He told that this shop has not been registered and it is matter of tax evasion and the matter will soon be registered and appropriate action will be taken against the wrongdoers.He told that investigation is on under Excise Act and Tax with Penalty would be recovered from the said firms.
Block Development Officer Chachiot Mr.Bhanu Gupta said that on receiving the complaint action will be taken against the said Pradhan.
RTI Bureau Convener Mr. Lawan Thakur said that Bureau is going to complaint the matter before the authorities so that corruption in the grass root level can be checked
effectively. He said that the Pradhans are doing wrong with the connivance of the government officials .
